Preliminary and Full Project Template

In general, when trying to find partners  for your project, it is a good idea to prepare an outline of your project idea and post it at one of the listservs or project web sites. Once you complete the form, distribute it to teachers whom you think  may be interested in participating. Announcements on the Internet can be made via e-mail (listservs) or web pages (see Project Resources).

For our SchoolLink projects, if you come up with an idea for a project, we invite you to prepare to complete the form for posting on our Web site by August 1.  We will then ask all of our participants to inform us of which project(s) they feel they could participate in.  Once that is done, teachers will begin negotiating the complete project with their partner.    Project templates will include the following information.  Remember, this is a proposal and teachers can negotiate some changes once they begin collaborating.

  1. Project Name:  Name and describe your project. This information should attract the interest of your readers.
  2. Date:  Give the starting date and ending date of the entire project. Provide several weeks at the beginning so there will be  enough time for people to respond to your request.
  3. Purpose:  Describe the objectives and learning outcomes for the project. What will students learn from the experience?
  4. Subject/Topic: Describe which curriculum area will be addressed by this project. Since many projects are interdisciplinary, list as many as apply.
  5. Grade/Age level: Indicate the appropriate age/grade level for this project.
  6. Number of participants: Indicate the number of classes or students you want to work with.
  7. Project Timeline: Write the timeline for the project. Be as specific as possible. Also, indicate the parts of the project. (It will be useful if you include your school calendar or "days off" from school.)
  8. Project Activities: What are the activities? What will the students do? What will you do? How do you expect the participants to collect the data? Be as specific as possible in this section.
  9. Project Contact: Name and e-mail address of the contact person.
